Roy J. Cotton, II is a sought-after consultant, record producer and orchestral arranger with a proven track record for making social impact. He acquired a bachelor’s degree from Hampton University in music engineering, with a focus in piano. His professional music career began at the tender age of fourteen while being taught/mentored by his father, Dr. Roy Cotton, Sr., a well-respected musician and consultant in his own right.
Since graduating from Hampton, Roy has served on the faculties of the Hampton Minister’s conference, the Gospel Heritage Worship Summit, The Joint College of African American Bishops, The National African American Fellowship of the Southern Baptist Convention, The National Association of Pastoral Musicians Conference of the Roman Catholic Church, The African American Fellowship Conference of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, The Walter and Edwin Hawkins’ Music and Arts Seminar, Dr. Tony Evans’ Kingdom Agenda Pastors Conference, the LifeWay Music Conference of the Southern Baptist Convention, Bishop TD Jakes’ International Pastors and Leadership Conference and several other conferences/conventions. In doing so, Roy has developed a vast network of pastors and Christian Leaders.
Roy’s worlds of business and creativity collide within Urban Symphony LLC, a music tech company that introduces new tools, trends, and virtual solutions to forward-thinking churches and schools. By partnering with several labels and publishers including Integrity, Fair Trade, Tehillah Music, etc., Roy and his team work closely with several church denominations and organizations that include over 30K African American congregations. Roy is married to recording artist, Niya Cotton, and they are the proud parents of Roy “Rocco” Cotton, III, Eric Stone Cotton and Nyla Jade Cotton. They reside in Dallas, Texas.
